Be careful in Darkside, because its darkness is seductive. Once you feel its allure, you won't be able to resist.
Zyara al Sirian has devoted most of her adult life to the art of healing. As the First Division's medic, she's seen more than her fair share of war wounds and trauma. And ever since the Kordolians arrived on Earth, she's had her hands full tending to a motley group of survivors.
She hasn't had a break in longer than she can remember.
A break? What's that again?
After much persuasion, she finally agrees to take some well-deserved time off to explore the city with Sera, Arin, Jia, and their Kordolian mates.
You need to relax. It'll be fun, you'll see. Darkside comes alive at night.
When she crosses paths with a mysterious, charming Human called Kainan, she realizes there's more to this lawless place than meets the eye. The Federation holds no sway here. Beneath Darkside's glittering facade, Humans rule hidden empires from the shadows through secrecy and violence.
Zyara gets a taste of their world when Human conflict spills out onto the street. She can't help but intervene. It's what she was trained to do.
Her actions save a life. In return, Kainan says he will give her anything she desires.
Oh dear. What's a Kordolian to do?
Darkside Blues is a novella set in the Dark Planet Warriors universe. It will make more sense if you've read the other books first, although that's probably not absolutely essential.

Kordolians! Kordolians!I took a day to write these review, because I wasn't sure of my rating. I'll give it a 4,5. But before I explain why, I want to say: that I love these series.
I look long and hard, and still browse Amazon in search of what I want to read about aliens meeting humans... And romance salted with action and horror. And I found some, a few were good, many not that good, a lot I just need to forget, but Anna Carven is an author who hit the mark straight in the Center.
I'm in awe of how she writes this serie, so fast and very very well. This one just come after a month and a half , I think, after the book 4 (which was exciting and let me drool about those Kordolians.)
If an invasion was to happened on earth, I wish they would be like that. (But there is a few chances in the opinion of scientists, too bad, huh!)
Back to the novella, I enjoyed it very much.
Zyara, is after all, a pillar in the first division. The only kordolian woman we met, who is not crazy: aka The Impress.
So for her character, for me, I was waiting for something... A bit more then a novella. So I'm a bit ambivalent on that choice. I understand and agree (totally! Oui oui oui) that TArak and Abey are the main characters, but they are all so good and interesting and passionate to read about, that in my opinion Zyara needed a book(400 pages, no problem ;) ).
Moreover the informations we get in this one are gold.
We get an insight in darkside. We get the mechanism of the government on earth, and it's interesting to learn about mechanic of the world in which we are diving in.
As well as the different way the mob has divided this neighbor, or who is driving the wheel and how. But we are missing time (pages) to completely diving into it.
Like the fact that Kai has been implanted a neuro implant with no consent, that details, which has been put in the front 2 times has not been entirely described. I would have like for him to retell that, and to say who did this. Maybe I miss the information, if so, please let me know.
Without starting into too many details, I just find that the way toward the author went needed, in my opinion, much more development, but after it couldn't have been a novella. So I understand why, but....
Here with this series and author, I'll say more is always more.
So I loved it.
Seeing Tarak nurturing his daughter is awesome. And discovering this strange and sci-fi future earth through the eyes of the Kordolians is simply a blast.
So I put 5 stars. But for me I take this book like a prelude to more development, which is what a novella is usually for, but expect in the future also a lot of more insight in this world that Carven has just started to reveal to us.
And can't wait for Rykal, who has intrigued me since he took the peace fighter Arin hostage on the fortuna Tau. Ahhh Rykal!
Nythian is very much intriguing too!
Ah this is becoming obsessive.

Darkside Blues Dark Planet Warriors Book 45 edition by Anna Carven Romance eBooks Reviews
Whether or not you've watched 'Into the Badlands', and simply prefer Gaius Chau / Lewis Tan from his social media accounts, then this novella is for you.
This novella was one of the last books I read in the series, wondering what type of human would match a brilliant Kordolian from First Division
I wasn't disappointed. Anna Carven wrote the perfect match to our favourite empathic medic.
The next questions though would be if a) we will see more of Kai? b) Will Zyara and Kai have babies? AND c) We would LOVE to read more of Zyara as the first ever female Kordolian pregnant!
Another beautifully written novel in the Dark Planet Warriors series! I feel like I am now watching a television series--I go about life as per usual except from time to time I'm obsessing over when the next release will be and wondering what will happen in it! Really liked getting to see Zyara's perspective and thought her love interest was a perfect match. Great story development, too! Looking forward to the next installment. Thanks, Ms. Carven!
The calm, competent medic of Tarak's troops and a gangster with a noble streak. While they aren't necessarily two you'd think would hit it off, they work surprisingly well together. After all, Zyara comes from a people known to be ruthless and a little bloodthirsty. She can more than hold her own against Kai and his ways.
Not that she needs to hold her own, so to speak. Kai's pretty smitten with her and will do whatever it takes to make sure she's protected while in his territory. But when things go down, Zyara isn't some shrinking violet who fades into the background. Nope. She stands her ground and does her thing.
I am thoroughly enjoying watching these Kordollians fall one by one. They're fierce, determined, and aren't afraid to get their hands dirty. You know, if they need to.
Frankly, they seem to need to a lot. Which makes for some good reading.

Let me say I love me some Kordolians.... I was so excited to read this one and let me say it did not disappoint. Zyara our female medic of the sexy first division is the main character in this little novella. She meets a sexy modern day gangster in Darkside, Kai. Kai and Zyara are a great couple, because lets face it she's a first division medic home girl who has seen some stuff. Kai is an awesome compliment to Zyara in more ways then one this read has great sexual tension, loving, suspense and good ole Kordolian charm with a hint of violence thrown in for good measure. I so enjoyed catching up with my Kordolian fellas and I can't wait for Ny and Lodan to get a book cause boy are they sexy in that ultra bada$$ way that only a Kordolian can be. Keep'em coming Ms. Craven cause I'll be waiting.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and the way it tied the characters together. The natural conclusion was their romantic connection.
The bedroom scenes are believable, well described, and appropriate for the characters and the circumstances.
Good use of supporting characters, scene details, and translating classic mafia mentality to the sf setting.
Not too gritty, sadistic, or political, which can happen when you get a mafioso story.
Sexy, sensual, and satisfying.
No cheating, shaming, demeaning of women, no consensual or frank slavery. No sexual punishment.
Yes, some alcohol and substance use mentioned... we have a darkside nightlife theme. Yes, mild swearing. Yes, some scary moments of peril.
Ends well.
If you want more explicit, aggressive sex in a romance, this isn't the series for you.
If a good premise makes the hot scenes better for you... then try it. The series is overall engaging, innovative, and a nice ride.
Kordolians! Kordolians!
